Rebuilding a legacy

Parminder S and Devinder K (Dee) Sandhu came to the United States in 1972 looking for an opportunity to rebuild after a series of changes in their birth country made it difficult for them to see a path to the kind of life they wanted for their new and growing family. By 1985 they had incorporated a company and by 1987 they opened their first restaurant in central Virginia. Over the years, they opened more than 10 locations before eventually scaling back and branching out into other retail verticals.

One of their sons, P2 Sandhu, was fascinated by their businesses. As a young boy, he was quietly listening to his parents’ business discussions, reading the Wall Street Journal and by the age of 14, started working in the family business after school. He joined the family business full-time in 2001, while still in college.

In 2004, P2 opened his first restaurant while continuing to oversee his parents’ restaurants. He spent most of his 20’s learning every aspect of running a small business, from HR through Accounting, Finance, Project Management and Operations. In 2010, P2 added new franchise brands to the portfolio. He quickly began growing the business through both acquisition and new construction. To support this growth, P2 invested significant time developing his above-store infrastructure, bringing in and learning from tenured operations leaders with experience in both franchise and corporate organizations.

P2 is guided by his deep sense of honor & integrity, and fierce interest and understanding of business. The values learned from his parents: service, integrity, respect, hard work and attention to detail have guided how he operates the businesses today.

The Sandhu Group has grown its operations in Virginia since 2010. These are the current stores under our management.
